Random Musings While Cleaning the Oven

13089126105_e678712afa_zI decided my oven needed cleaning out. It is notoriously uneven in its heating and the smoke detector in the living room goes off every time I set the oven above 400F. So I was reading about oven maintenance for funsies (don’t judge me). I came to the conclusion that cleaning my oven would likely help with at least one of these problems.

In no particular order, here are some random musings:

  • Where the hell do you even find an oven without a self-cleaning function in the 21st century?
  • (With most of my upper body inside the oven to get at a corner) Reeeeeeeaally glad I’m not using a chemical oven cleaner.
  • I should probably do this more frequently than once every 3 years.
  • If anyone tries to tell you that using a baking soda paste to scrub things is pleasant and easy, they are lying.
  • If anyone tells you that any method of oven cleaning is as simple as “wipe on then wipe off” they are lying.
  • Ewwwwwwwww
  • Do not vacuum dried baking soda paste out of an oven.
  • How much vinegar can you spray in the vacuum tube to dissolve the baking soda paste.
  • Super glad I’m wearing nitrile gloves.
  • Super glad Dyson vacuums can be taken apart.
  • Super glad fixing the vacuum is Colin’s job.
  • I should probably be working on my Gilgamesh paper.
  • I should have taken before and after pics.
  • Nah, the after is still kind of grody.
  • This would probably make a fast blog post.
  • Soaking the oven racks in the tub worked really well.
  • Now I have to clean the tub.
  • &%*#it! They took The Great British Baking Show off Netflix.
  • Should probably get around to that paper. . . . .

I’m pretty sure no one in the history of ever has cleaned an oven in kitten heels.
